Exercise Guide:

Cool-Down

Short Description

At the Bob MacQuarrie Recreational Centre in Orléans Ontario

Don Ferguson, a Certified Seniors Fitness Instructor (CCAA) including people with special needs , gave us a new insight on maximising the effectiviness of what we do in racquetball for people with Parkinson’s.(PwP)

Don has put together a program consisting of four  basic components

  • Warm up  : get  your different body parts ready to move
  • Hitting the ball on the wall and spatial  awareness
  • Play  : have fun and enjoy
  • Stretch  and cool down  : now that your body is really pumped up, stretching  is at it’s  peak efficiency level and cool down exercises to get you back home feeling great.

Don does a stand up warm up or a chair warm-up , for people with balance issues.

Don told us “  These exercises and stretches target all the major muscle groups and joints PwP use while playing racquet sports. “ This video shows a selection of them. Thank you Don Ferguson and a nod of appreciation for Bernard who participated in our video session
